All RICE kurve are handmade from Raffia, a natural material whose colors vary by nature—these variations are reflected in the dyeing, so some items may appear lighter and others more vibrant. As a result, no two kurve are ever completely identical. The same goes for their shapes, which may differ slightly. To us, this is part of the unique charm that lets you see each product is crafted by hand. If you order several kurve at once, we will do our best to select those closest in color and shape. Please note that we are unable to provide individual photographs of the different variants.

About the material: Raffia fibers are a truly wonderful natural resource, harvested from palm leaves—RICE’s raffia comes directly from Madagascar. Every raffia product is handmade with care in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar, where the production helps provide better and more resources to the local community. The manufacturing supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. Because raffia is natural and the kurve are handwoven, each piece will differ slightly in color, shape, and size. Keep in mind, colors may fade if exposed to continuous sunlight, and water contact should be avoided as it may cause color transfer.
