Make toy storage easier every day.

A child’s bedroom is a place for playing, building, drawing, reading and making up new stories every single day. That’s why toy storage should be easy to use – for children too. For example, open baskets and boxes placed at a child-friendly height make it easy to see where things belong and can make tidying up a more manageable part of everyday life.

A good idea is to sort toys by type and choose storage to match:

When children know where things belong, it’s easier for them to help keep things tidy. Good storage in a child’s bedroom also frees up more floor space for what the room is made for: play.

Storage baskets for kids – practical and stylish enough to leave on display

Storage baskets for children are a simple solution when toys need to be tidied away quickly without being completely out of sight. Large baskets are ideal for soft toys, blankets, dress-up clothes and larger toys, while smaller storage baskets are perfect for all the little things that might otherwise end up on the floor.

At Lirum Larum Leg, you’ll find woven baskets and imaginative storage designs from brands such as RICE and ferm LIVING. Here, storage can become part of the children’s room décor—for example, with baskets shaped like fruit or little houses.

If you’re looking for a storage solution with plenty of personality, you can also explore our decorative wicker playhouses, which combine storage with a playful look.

Storage boxes for kids – for everything from little bits and pieces to larger toys

For smaller toys and other items that need a little more organisation, storage boxes for children are a practical solution. Our range includes popular foldable crates from Aykasa and Liewood in a variety of sizes and colours. They’re ideal for storing everything from LEGO, doll accessories and toy cars to books, coloured pencils and craft materials.

Boxes make it easy to sort things into categories, so everything is quick to find—and just as quick to put away again. Several models can also be stacked or folded flat when not in use.

If you need a more permanent storage solution for your child’s room, boxes and baskets pair well with children’s furniture that includes storage. A bookcase offers space for books, baskets and boxes, while wardrobes and wall shelves make use of vertical space while helping create a cosy atmosphere in your child’s room.

Toy Storage for Little and Big Kids

The need for toy storage naturally changes as your child grows. In the nursery, a spacious basket can be handy for baby toys, cloth books and blankets. As your child gets older, their collection often expands to include building blocks, cars, dolls, role-play toys and craft materials – and several smaller boxes can make everything easier to sort.

Storage needs may change again once your child starts school. They may need room for hobby supplies, books, collections and small personal treasures. Flexible toy storage that can be moved and put to new uses can be a great solution for years to come.

You might like to create small storage zones: one basket for soft toys, one box for building blocks and a dedicated spot for books. This keeps things organised without making the children's room feel too regimented – after all, there should still be plenty of room for spontaneous play and imagination.

Make more room for play with the right storage solutions.

The best toy storage is the kind that fits your everyday life. Some families need large baskets that make tidying up a matter of minutes. Others prefer lots of smaller storage boxes for children, so toys can be sorted. Often, a combination works really well.

A Play&Go 2-in-1 solution can be used for both play and storage, for example, while folding crates are practical on a shelving unit and a large basket can hold all the cuddly toys. That way, each type of toy has a storage solution that makes sense.

Good toy storage isn’t about keeping the children’s room perfectly tidy at all times. It’s about creating simple systems that make it quick to clear space for the next playtime.

At Lirum Larum Leg, we’ve brought together toy storage, storage baskets, boxes, containers and decorative solutions that combine practicality with the lovely, playful look we adore. Explore the collection and find the storage that’s just right for your child’s room.

Things to Know About Storage in the Kids’ Room

What’s the best way to store toys in a child’s bedroom?

It often works well to combine different types of toy storage. For example, use large baskets for stuffed animals and larger toys, and smaller boxes for building blocks, figurines and craft supplies. Place some storage within your child’s reach so they can access their toys independently.
Which storage boxes are best for children?

Good storage boxes for children should suit what needs to be stored and the space you have available. Folding boxes are versatile and come in different sizes, while larger boxes are practical for toys that take up more space.
Which baskets work well for storing toys?

Large storage baskets for children are especially well suited to teddy bears, dolls, dress-up clothes and other toys your child uses often. Smaller storage baskets are ideal for little bits and pieces and can be placed on bookcases or shelves.
How can you create more storage in a small child’s bedroom?

Make the most of the space along the walls and up high. Combine baskets and boxes with bookcases, cabinets and shelves, and opt for flexible solutions that can be stacked or folded away. This gives you more storage in the children’s room without taking up valuable floor space.
How can you make it easier for children to tidy up their toys?

A few clear categories can make a big difference. For example, have one basket for soft toys, one box for cars, and one for building blocks. When your child can easily see where each toy belongs, tidying up feels more manageable and can become a natural end to playtime.
What’s the best way to store children’s books?

Children’s books are best stored where they’re easy to find and within your child’s reach. Try a low bookcase, book box or wall shelves at child height, and consider displaying some books with their covers facing out to make it easier for your child to choose. Keep books away from damp and direct sunlight, which can damage them, and sort them by size or theme to create a tidy, inviting little reading nook
