Bring calm to bedtime

Bedtime is more than just part of the daily routine. It’s a moment for being together, having a little chat and sharing a goodnight kiss. A softly glowing night light can be part of the familiar setting as the day’s play winds down.

Perhaps you switch on the same light, choose a book and say goodnight in the same order each evening. It doesn’t have to be a big ritual. Familiar routines and time together can make bedtime a lovely part of the day. For a child who isn’t fond of the dark, a gentle night light can be a comforting option while you find the routine that works for you.

A favourite teddy can also be part of those familiar bedtime rituals. Let your child find their little friend as you switch on the night light and get ready to say goodnight. Browse our soft toys, if you’re looking for a cuddly friend for cosy moments.

Bedtime reading and a little light for cosy evenings

A bedtime story is a lovely way to end the day together. Choose a familiar tale, get comfortable, and let your child point, listen and ask questions along the way. In our read-aloud books collection, you’ll find stories that can become part of your own little bedtime tradition.

Use a suitable reading light so the pages are easy to see. When the story is over, you can switch off the reading light and let a softer night light take over, if your child finds it comforting. A night light and a good book can therefore complement each other, even though each has its own role in the bedtime routine.

Baby night light and nursery night light

A night light for a baby is often a small light for adults to use when they need to find a pacifier or feed their baby during the night. Soft lighting makes it easier to find your way without turning on the main room light. For older children, the lamp can also become a familiar part of the bedtime routine.

Night light, night lamp and nursery night light are often used to describe the same type of small light. Think about how you plan to use the lamp at home, and choose a comfortable, gentle glow. Place the lamp according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and remember that a figure-shaped lamp isn’t automatically a toy. In children’s lamps with LED lighting you can find a range of styles and features.

Mushroom Lamps with a Touch of Fairy-Tale Charm

A little toadstool on a shelf can bring a touch of woodland magic into your child’s room. Our mushroom lamps have a distinctive, decorative look that’s lovely to admire both with and without the light on. In the Heico collection, you’ll find toadstools with small openings that let the light shine through, among other designs.

A mushroom lamp is a lovely choice if you’re looking for a light that adds to the room’s decor while creating a cosy glow at bedtime. Choose a size and colour to suit the spot where you plan to place it. It doesn’t have to match everything else in the room; a single charming design can easily find its own little place in your child’s world.

Rechargeable night lights, timers, and soft lighting

Practical features can help make evenings easier. A rechargeable night light can be moved between the places where you use it, while a night light with a timer can switch off automatically after bedtime. Other models offer several light settings or a remote control. Features vary, so choose the ones you actually need.

Our range includes Little L night lights with different lighting options and CloudB night lights, with selected models that create a starry sky. A simple, soft light and a projector offer different bedtime experiences.

What to look for

  • A dimmable night light, so you can adjust the brightness.
  • A timer, if you want the light to switch off automatically.
  • USB charging or batteries, depending on what suits your daily routine.
  • A design your child will be happy to look at.

A cosy children’s room – even when the lamp is off.

Our night lights are also carefully selected for the lovely details that make a child’s room feel personal. A friendly cat, a rainbow or a mushroom-shaped lamp can brighten up a shelf and sit perfectly among your child’s books and favourite things. It’s this combination of function and playful design that we love.

You don’t need to redecorate the whole room to create a cosy bedtime nook. A lamp featuring a design your child loves, along with a special place for the evening’s book, can be a lovely place to start. Questions about night lights and a cosy bedtime

Which night light is best for children?

A good night light suits your bedtime routine and the space where it will go. Look for a soft, gentle light and controls that are easy for you to use. A timer, rechargeable design and choice of motif can then help you decide between the different models.
Can a night light help your child feel safe at bedtime?

For a child who isn’t fond of the dark, a gentle night light can be a comforting part of familiar surroundings. Use it alongside your presence and a familiar bedtime routine. Every child is different, so let your child’s needs be your starting point.
Which light bulb should I choose for a night light?

Choose a dim light if your child needs a night light while sleeping.

The Patient Handbook on sundhed.dk recommends using red light in a night light. A brighter reading light can be used during the bedtime story and switched off afterwards.
What’s the difference between a night lamp and a night light?

These names are often used for smaller lamps that provide light at bedtime or during the night. Compare the specific lamp’s brightness, controls and power source rather than relying on the label alone.
Is there a night light with a timer and a rechargeable battery?

Yes, the range includes both rechargeable night lights and models with a timer, and some combine both features. Check each product description for details on charging, battery life and timer settings.
Can a night light be left on all night?

It depends on the model. Some lamps are designed to be used throughout the night, while others have an automatic shut-off or limited battery life. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use and placement.
Can I use a mushroom lamp as a night light?

Yes, several of our mushroom lamps are described as suitable for use as a night light or sleep light. They can also add a decorative touch to your child’s bedroom. Check the light, size and power supply for the specific model.
Is a night light bright enough to read a bedtime story?

A dim night light isn’t necessarily bright enough for reading. Use a lamp that makes the pages easy to see while you read aloud. Afterwards, you can switch off the reading lamp and use a softer light if your child prefers.
