The Joy of Play with Maileg

What sets Maileg apart is its open universe, where there is no fixed storyline—your child is invited to create their own adventures and tales. The beloved Maileg mus in matchboxes, for example, can be tucked in at bedtime, taken on journeys, or move into one of the delightful dollhouses. With charming miniature furniture, kitchens, beds, clothing, and accessories, your child can design the mus home and let the world of play grow and change every day. Maileg's kaniner, kaninunger, and other imaginative characters can easily step into new roles, depending on where your child’s imagination leads.

This open-ended play style empowers children to invent their own stories and engage in imaginative role-play. A Maileg mus might be a princess one day, an explorer the next, and perhaps a chef or big sister after that. When children create their own tales and assign new roles to these figures, it helps foster language development, social skills, and creative—and even abstract—thinking.

It’s easy to keep building on the Maileg universe. Mus, matchboxes, dollhouses, furniture, clothing, and tiny accessories can be endlessly mixed, matched, and added to over time. Their small scale and exquisite details make Maileg a natural fit for combining with other cherished toys, so familiar play scenes can welcome new characters, stories, and boundless opportunities for imaginative play.

What is Maileg?

Maileg is a Danish design brand, founded by Charlotte Maileg, which creates a poetic universe of handcrafted figures, animals, and dollhouses. The brand blends classic Scandinavian design with whimsical fantasy and small, nostalgic details that evoke childhood play memories. At Lirum Larum Leg, we are proud to be authorized retailers of Maileg, offering one of Denmark's largest selections.
Are Maileg products safe for children?

Yes. All Maileg toys comply with the current EU toy safety standards (EN71) and are CE-marked. The materials are carefully selected, often organic cotton, linen, and FSC-certified wood, ensuring you can trust the quality. As an official retailer, we at Lirum Larum Leg guarantee that all products are original and meet Maileg's high standards.
Can Maileg toys be washed?

Most Maileg figures can be washed with a gentle cycle at 30°C—preferably using a laundry bag to protect the stitching and small details. Avoid using a dryer and allow the figure to dry naturally. Always read the product's own care instructions on the label before washing. At Lirum Larum Leg, we describe the washing options on each product page, so you can always check what's applicable for your specific figure.
Where is the best place to buy Maileg?

A great place to purchase Maileg is from a retailer offering a wide selection of figures, houses, furniture, and accessories, along with expert guidance on sizes. At Lirum Larum Leg, you'll find a vast array of Maileg, allowing you to either start a new Maileg universe or discover products that complement an existing collection.
