Dolls and Doll Accessories

When children play with dolls, they develop a range of important social, emotional, and language skills. Doll play is a form of role-playing where the child imitates everyday situations and expresses emotions, actions, and relationships in words. This enhances the child's language development as they speak, explain, and narrate stories through play.

Playing with dolls also helps children to develop empathy and care. When the child tucks in the doll, comforts it, or feeds it, they practice understanding others' needs and feelings. At the same time, the play offers the child a safe space to process experiences from their own daily life.

Furthermore, playing with dolls strengthens the child's imagination and creativity, as the child creates stories and roles. Dolls and doll clothes can be used repeatedly in new ways, making the play lasting and meaningful. At Lirum Larum Leg, we see doll play as a valuable part of a child's play and development—a play that combines presence, learning, and imagination.

Our fabric dolls or soft baby dolls from Corolle, MaMaMeMo, or Djeco are perfect as your child's first doll. They are easy to hold and safe for the youngest ones. Opt for dolls that are no more than 30cm, especially for the youngest children. A handy rule of thumb is that the doll should not be longer than the child's forearm, allowing it to comfortably cradle in the child's arm.

Yes. All dolls at Lirum Larum Leg comply with current EU safety standards and are crafted from child-friendly materials free of harmful substances. Follow our age guidelines for the various dolls to ensure you make the right choice.

For children aged 4 years and up, we recommend Götz, Our Generation, or Barbie dolls, which invite more complex role-playing. The choice naturally depends on the type of doll desired.

Yes, we offer a wide range of doll clothing for our various dolls, as well as doll accessories and doll prams, allowing your child to expand their collection and customize their playtime.

Yes – a doll is a gift from the heart. It brings joy, fosters security, and sparks hours of play. A doll is not just a toy, but a companion to which the child forms a bond. With our extensive range of dolls, doll carriages, and accessories, you will always find the perfect gift – regardless of age and interest.

Always check the doll's height – most brands provide clothing sizes in centimeters (e.g., 30, 36, or 46 cm). At Lirum Larum Leg, the product description clearly states which doll clothes are suitable for which dolls.

Accessories make doll play even more realistic and vibrant. Start, for example, with a doll bed, doll carriage, and doll clothes, so your child can care for their doll during everyday play. For slightly older children, you can expand with diaper bags, furniture, bathtubs, strollers, or small accessories such as bottles, blankets, and hairbrushes.

At Lirum Larum Leg, you can find everything a little doll parent needs—whether the play takes place in the dollhouse, in the children's room, or out on a stroll with the doll carriage.

Most dolls can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid submerging them in water, especially if they contain mechanical parts or hair. Doll clothes and textile accessories can usually be gently hand washed. Always check the item's care instructions before you begin—proper maintenance extends the life of the toy and allows the child to enjoy playing for many years.

A good rule of thumb is that dolls for children should match the child's size—a doll that can rest comfortably on the child's forearm feels natural to hold and play with.

•
For children aged 1-2 years, dolls around 28–32 cm are recommended as they are easy to carry and cuddle.

•
For children aged 3-5 years, dolls measuring 34–38 cm are often best—these resemble a "real baby" more closely and can be used with doll clothes and accessories like beds and carriages.

•
Larger dolls such as Our Generation (46 cm) are suitable for children aged 4-5 years and up, who can handle more details, dressing up, and themes in play.

At Lirum Larum Leg, you'll find both small baby dolls and large fashion dolls—all carefully selected to ensure the child receives a doll that suits their age, imagination, and motor skills.

When selecting a doll pram for your child, it's all about finding a model that suits both the child's height and age. A good rule of thumb is that the pram should be easy to push and stable enough to accompany your child during playtime – both indoors and outdoors.

For the youngest children, aged approximately 1½–3 years, a low and light doll pram at child height is recommended. The popular Sebra dukkevogn i træ – Blossom Pink is a great choice. It is robust, has soft wheels, and features a classic shape that provides good support as your child takes their first steps and rolls their doll along on adventures.

For children aged 3–5 years, a slightly larger doll pram is perfect – for example, the Konges Sløjd Minnie dukkevogn – Lumina. It has a height that matches children's natural reach and comes with a removable carrycot and fine textile details, making play both realistic and fun.

For children aged 5 and older, you can opt for a more spacious model like the Konges Sløjd dukkevogn – Cherry Blush. It features an elegant and aesthetic design that adorns the children's room and accommodates larger dolls.

Regardless of age, a doll pram is a gift that brings joy, enhances your child's motor skills, and invites many hours of imaginative role play. At Lirum Larum Leg, you will find a carefully selected range of doll prams and strollers where quality, safety, and aesthetics go hand in hand.

Playing with dolls often begins as early as the age of one, when children start to mimic the everyday life of adults with care and cuddle play.

But doll play certainly doesn't stop there! Many children continue to enjoy playing with dolls up until the ages of 10–12, especially when it involves series like Our Generation and Barbie, where appearance, clothing, and themes reflect the child's own world.

At Lirum Larum Leg, we love that our dolls and accessories grow with your child—from the first soft baby dolls to the detailed fashion and friendship dolls. We believe in toys where play is enduring, allowing your child to explore new aspects of themselves through imagination and role play for many years.
