The autumn break is just around the corner. The children have a break from school, after-school programs, kindergarten, or daycare, but what should we do?
You can be completely calm. We have gathered a lot of tips for activities you can do with your children. After all, is there anything more cosy than creative projects to truly relax - with the whole family? And set aside inflation worries for a bit. Because a good time doesn't have to cost a fortune.
Build chestnut animals
Now is the time to collect the beautiful chestnuts. And chestnut animals require just a pack of matches or two, an awl, and maybe a little glue. An easy and cosy activity for both children and adults.
Another cosy activity is painting stones. It also requires a bit of fresh air when gathering the stones beforehand. At Lirumlarumleg.dk, we have the delightful Posca markers and paint specifically for stones from SES Creative. Another fun way to decorate stones is with the colorful dot-a-lot from OOly.
Make pumpkin lanterns
Halloween is approaching, which means pumpkin lanterns. Traditional pumpkin lanterns with scary faces help ward off ghosts. The tradition of carving lanterns is both fun and cosy for children of all ages. Plus, the lanterns are decorative during the dark season.
You will need:
A large knife
A small sharp knife.
A large spoon or ice cream scoop
Atamon
Start by cutting the top of the pumpkin, about 15 cm in diameter. Save the 'lid' and remove the flesh with the large spoon. The pumpkin should be scraped completely clean.
Use the small sharp knife to carve your face. The only limit is your imagination.
When you’re done, place a candle inside the pumpkin and put the lid on. Voila.
By rubbing all cut surfaces with Atamon, you can extend the pumpkin's lifespan.
Gather leaves and make a beautiful wreath
A very simple and cosy activity. It only requires a lot of leaves and some wire.

Bake twist bread over a fire
Twist bread is always a hit. Or marshmallows. It's so cosy to sit by the fire and tell stories.
Here's a recipe for dough for 8 twist breads:
25 g yeast
2 1/2 dl water
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
400 g wheat flour
And you can fill it with whatever you like - but sausages or ketchup are always a hit. Let the dough rise for about 30 minutes.
Find the jigsaw puzzles or get them here
Assembling jigsaw puzzles is truly synonymous with slowing down. And a truly cosy activity to do with your children. If you don't already have jigsaw puzzles, we have plenty here at Lirumlarumleg.dk
One idea could be this fine Miami jigsaw puzzle from Eeboo illustrated by Uta Krogmann with 1000 pieces. Measures 58x58 cm when completed. From 8 years.
For the slightly younger ones, this observation jigsaw puzzle from Djeco with only 54 pieces could be an idea. It measures 38x61cm and is from 4 years. Start by making the jigsaw puzzle, and then find the motifs from the edge in the larger picture.
Games
One of the cosiest activities you can do with your children is play games. At Lirumlarumleg.dk, you can find many fun, educational, and challenging games.
You probably know the game Battleship. Experience the exciting sea battle for two players. Each player has 5 ships that need to be 'shot down', and small markers indicate which ships are hit. The game is from 6 years.
Another new, fun, and really nice cooperative game from Djeco. The game is called Pin Pon and involves getting the fire engine to the house before it burns down. The challenge is to move the toy cars off the road in time so the fire engine can pass. From 3-10 years.
And then there's the classic game - chess. The board game with pieces suitable for both chess and checkers. Both chess and checkers are over 1000 years old and are played today both for family hygge and in competitions. From 6 years.
Find small animals in nature linked to magnifying glasses
Many children - and adults love to closely examine insects. Look under leaves, branches, and stones in the forest floor. Break open rotten logs and tree stumps to see if you can find some animals in them. You will surely find creatures like woodlice, millipedes, beetles, spiders, centipedes, earwigs, ants, snails, worms, larvae, and pupae.
At Lirumlarumleg.dk, we have several great bug viewers. Among them is this robust one from Navir, which is perfect for closely inspecting insects. The bug viewer can be used 360 degrees, allowing you to view insects from above, from the side, and from below.
Disco day. Hold a disco party in the living room or bedroom
Last but not least, throw a party! Add glitter and gold and dance. There’s nothing like dancing to bring joy. Musical chairs, freeze dance - just dance. With a disco ball in the ceiling, the party starts immediately. Everything feels a little more festive with such a glittering globe in the ceiling, creating an atmosphere that invites fun times, songs, dancing, and memorable moments.
Make popcorn and soft drink cocktails with umbrellas in them. Now that's a party.
Hope you all have a fantastic autumn break!
Best regards
