All RICE baskets are handcrafted from Raffia, which naturally varies in color, and this variation is also reflected in the dyeing process—sometimes resulting in a lighter hue, other times a more vibrant one. This means that no two baskets are exactly alike. The same applies to their shape, which might show slight differences as well. We believe it's part of the charm that you can see the handmade quality in the product. If you order multiple baskets at once, we will send those that are closest in tone and shape. Unfortunately, we cannot provide photos of the different variants.

About the material: Raffia fibers are an amazing natural material derived from palm leaves, and Rice's raffia comes from Madagascar. All raffia products are made with care—they are produced in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar, where production contributes to better and more resources for the villagers. The production supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. As raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handcrafted, each product will vary slightly in color, shape, and size. Colors may fade if the product is exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water, as it can cause colors to bleed.
