The same is true of their shapes, giving each piece a one-of-a-kind charm and clearly displaying its handmade origin. About the material: Raffia fibers are an exceptional natural material sourced from palm leaves, and Rice’s raffia comes exclusively from Madagascar. All raffia products are crafted with care in two mountain villages in Madagascar, with production helping to create better conditions and more opportunities for over 300 local families on the Red Island. As each basket is handmade from natural raffia, small variations in color, shape, and size are to be expected. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause the colors to fade, and contact with water may result in color transfer—so we recommend keeping your basket in dry conditions away from direct sunlight to preserve its beautiful appearance.
