All RICE baskets are handcrafted from Raffia, which naturally varies in color, and this variation is reflected in the dyeing process—sometimes the color is light and other times more vibrant. This means no two baskets are exactly alike. This also applies to their shape, as there can be slight differences. We believe it adds to the charm, showing that the product is handmade. If you order multiple baskets at once, we will send those that closely match each other in hue and form. Unfortunately, we cannot provide photos of the different variants.

About the Material: Raffia fibers are a fantastic natural material derived from palm leaves, and Rice's raffia comes from Madagascar. All raffia products are crafted with heart—they are produced in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar, where their production contributes to improved resources for the local inhabitants. This endeavor supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. Since raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handmade, each product will have slight variations in color, shape, and size. Colors will fade if the product is exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water, as it may cause color transfer.
