All RICE baskets are handmade from Raffia, which naturally varies in color, and this variation extends to the dyeing, sometimes resulting in lighter or more intense hues. This means no two baskets are entirely the same. The same goes for the shape, where slight differences can occur. We believe it adds to the charm, knowing each product is handmade. If you order multiple baskets at once, we will send the ones that are closest in shade and shape to each other. Unfortunately, we cannot provide photos of the different variants.

About the material: Raffia fibers are a wonderful natural material derived from palm leaves. Rice’s raffia comes from Madagascar, where all raffia products are crafted with care. The products are produced in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar, where the production supports better and more resources for the villagers. The production supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. As raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handmade, each product will vary slightly in color, shape, and size. Colors will fade if exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water, as it can cause color transfer.
