All RICE baskets are handmade from Raffia, which naturally varies in color. This variation carries through to the dyeing process, sometimes resulting in a lighter hue, other times a more vibrant one. This means that no two baskets are exactly alike. The same goes for their shape, where slight differences might be present. We believe this is part of the charm, showcasing that the product is handmade. If you order multiple baskets at once, we will send the ones that are closest in shade and shape. Unfortunately, we cannot provide photos of the different variants.

About the material: Raffia fibers are an amazing natural material derived from palm leaves. Rice’s raffia originates from Madagascar, where every raffia product is crafted with heart. These products are produced in two villages in Madagascar’s mountains, where the production contributes to better and more resources for the village residents. The production supports over 300 families on the Red Island. As raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handmade, each product will slightly vary in color, shape, and size. Colors will fade if the product is exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water, as it can cause color transfer.
