Every RICE basket is handcrafted from raffia, a natural fiber whose color varies beautifully in nature—this unique character continues through the dyeing process as well. Sometimes the shades are subtle, at other times more vivid. As a result, each basket is one of a kind. The shape may also vary slightly; we believe this is part of the product's unique charm and a testament to its handmade origin. About the material: Raffia fibers are an exceptional natural material, derived from palm leaves. Rice’s raffia is sourced from Madagascar, where every raffia product is crafted with dedication and care. These items are created in two mountain villages in Madagascar, and the production helps provide better and more sustainable resources for the local communities—supporting over 300 families on the Red Island. As each piece is handmade from a natural material, expect delicate differences in color, shape, and size. Please note: Colors may fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight, and contact with water may lead to color transfer.
