All RICE baskets are handcrafted from raffia, which naturally varies in color, and this variation is reflected in the dyeing process. Sometimes the dye is light, other times it is more intense. This means no two baskets are exactly alike. The same applies to shape; here too, there can be slight variations. We believe it's part of the charm that you can see the product is handmade. If you order multiple baskets at once, we will send those that are closest in shade and form. Unfortunately, we cannot provide photos of the different variants.

About the material: Raffia fibers are a fantastic natural material, derived from palm leaves, and Rice's raffia comes from Madagascar. All raffia products are made with care — they are produced in two villages in Madagascar's mountains, where the production contributes to better resources for the villages' inhabitants. The production supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. Since raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handmade, each product will slightly vary in color, shape, and size. Colors will fade if the product is exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water, as it can cause color bleeding.
